Robyn wins the newsquiz champagne

Trainee subs Alice Feilden, Poppy Sowerby, Robyn Schaffer with the champagne and Jess Broadbent

I said goodbye to the four Daily Mail trainee sub-editors this week who now head off for their placements at the Evening Standard, the i newspaper and the Mail in Dublin. They are very smart and likeable bunch and I will follow their careers with interest. They had a productive final week with sessions from assistant chief sub Richard Hall, deputy night-editor Chris Dean, copytaster Lottie Young and they did real-time subbing exercises with Tom Belcher. They also designed pages for a new supplement and a breaking news story. Last night they caught up with some of the senior staff in the Greyhound. As usual we finished with the newsquiz. This week’s winner was Alice Feilden with 16 points, just ahead of Robyn Schaffer on 15 who collected the champagne for the top score over the four weeks. The top solo scorers in last week’s quiz were Imogen Horton and Toby Brown with 20, just ahead of Janet Boyle on 19.5, Marguerite Turner on 19, Clara Gaspar on 18.5, Damon Wake on 18, Stuart Bagnall on 16 and Tali Fraser and Jayme Bryla on 15.5. The top team were the Three Legs drinkers with 20, ahead of Team Swindle and Maura and Phil Parsons on 19 and Adam Batstone and Lucy Thorpe on 16.5. Here is this week’s quiz. There are 26 points up for grans this week as there is a bonus point on question 11. Give it a go and see if you can beat Alice's score.
