How the editor's job has changed forever
How has editing a regional newspaper changed in the last 30 years? When I took over the editor’s chair in 1989 I joined a band of demi-gods. They were men (yes, all men) who prowled the industry with colossal self-belief. Today, being an editor is very different. The change in economics, the reduced resources, the drive to digital, the need to maintain profits and uncertainty over the viability of print have had a deep impact. So, I asked seven regional editors who have had a foot in both periods about the changes. My article in InPublishing magazine gives their candid views. Read it here.
