Martha gets the splash and wins newsquiz

The DailyMail.com trainees had another lively week in the New York office. They enjoyed sessions with editor-in-chief Gerard Greaves, editor Louise Thomas, associate editor Charlie Lankston and news-editor James Nye. Head of video Alex Ringsell and deputy associate picture editor Emanuel Rameriz explained how the trainees will work with their departments. Former trainees Karen Ruiz, Kayla Brantley, Wills Robinson and Jen Smith talked through the journey from starting the scheme to being a senior journalist. On Thursday the trainees pitched stories to health and science editor Connor Boyd … watch this space. They also went on to the wire, selected a story and developed it in Mail style, created a banner from badly-written copy, wrote headlines, captions, factboxes and studied the website in detail. Martha Williams and Mackenzie Tatananni won scratchcards for writing the best headlines. Martha and Emma Richter both got their second bylines of the course.
